  Family-History Workshop; “Publishing Print and Electronic Family Histories”

  Details: Making the move from data collecting to data publishing requires a deliberate mental shift–-one that many genealogists never accomplish. In the morning session, Roger Futrell will offer insights into how he handled the transition from research to interpretation in order to publish his own family history book. The presentation will provide suggestions on compiling your research findings, selecting an appropriate format, selecting a publisher and distributing of the final product. In the afternoon, guests will have the opportunity hear from book publishers and learn about alternatives to traditional publishing for sharing their family stories. Free. This lively discussion will offer perspective on how governors and their families brought life to these historic homes. A tour of the newly renovated Old Governor’s Mansion will immediately follow the program. $18 for KHS members and $23 for all other patrons. Reservations are required by March 12.   AppalSeeds Heirloom Seed-Starting Workshop at the Paul Sawyier Public Library

  Details: Tuesday evening, March 23rd, the Paul Sawyier Public Library will be hosting an AppalSeeds Heirloom Seed-Starting Workshop presented by Julie Maruskin (director of the Clark County Public Library). The workshop will begin at 6:00 PM in the Library Community Room. Learn to start plants from seed, transplant seedlings, and save your own seed for next year. All attendees will be able to choose six packets of seeds from 50 varieties of heirlooms as well as take home two tomato seedlings!   "Living with Grief: Cancer and End-of-Life Care" Teleconference

  Details: Hospice of the Bluegrass will host a full-day educational conference including the National Hospice Foundation's 17th Annual Teleconference: "Living with Grief: Cancer and End-of-Life Care" and a local panel of cancer resource experts and Dr. Grace Christ, Professor, Columbia University School of Social Work. Dr. Christ will share a Comprehensive Model of Mourning: Including Anticipatory Phases, Traumatic Events, Resilient Adaptation, and Later Reconstitution. Registration fees are $50 for professional and $35 for students. Registration includes lunch, CEU’s, book and handouts.
